The man behind the Canvas brand.
Alex’s Story.
Born in Balti, Moldova in the late 80's. Alex grew up in a time in Europe which was full of change, a shift in culture, ideology and especially economics. Growing up in Moldova, Alex was surrounded by his father's wood working projects. You see, in Moldova the heads of household would build their own homes for years at a time, and the majority of the work would be done by hand. Alex's father was especially passionate about woodworking, and building things out of wood - from windows to doors, parquet to hand rails, he was a master craftsman when it came to all things woodworking.
To this day, Alex's dad's idea of a good time involves going into the wood shop and crafting beautiful things. That passion for quality craftsmanship was what a young Alex absorbed, and it became a part of his value systems and ideals.
Alex and his family emigrated to the United States in the early 2000's, and began working in the construction space. He was fortunate to have been given opportunities to work on everything from foundations, concrete, walls, electrical, plumbing and most of the industries involved in building a house very early on. Through these projects he gathered valuable experience in complex project management, deep industry tribal knowledge and trade skills in multiple industries, and learned how to run an efficient and well organized project from start to finish.
As projects evolved and naturally progressed, Alex found himself working in fine finishing and flooring work more and more, where bringing his perspectives from the larger industry to bare on a specialty really paid off, and his business took off. With his keen eye for details, and quality craftsmanship he saw in his father as a young child, Alex built a reputation for his uncompromising standards, and effective, efficient and well run project management skills.
Years went by and Alex opened his own large flooring store. This was a new challenge, with new opportunities and more skills to be refined. But as time progressed, Alex saw a need to do things differently. Too much of the industry was doing things the same way, and he saw the need to create a next-level, experience driven, customer obsessed brand that really focused on what he found his customers wanted frequently, and after a couple of years of development, refinement and prototyping, Canvas was born!
Today, Alex is proud of what Canvas has become, and all that it can offer to our customer base. It really is an innovation, a breath of fresh air, and is the culmination of all that Alex has learned and cultivated. Canvas is the future of serving people, and we're proud to have created this vessel.
